Painted Mountain Corn

My oldest line of 55 years. A high protein grain corn that doubles as an ornamental corn with more rare, vibrant colors than any other ornamental corn.

Has at least 70 regional stress-hardy Native Indian heirloom corns for ancestors. Short plants 4–6' tall. Cobs 7–10" long depending on water. Cobs mostly 8-rowed. Matures in 100–110 days as dry grain. Faster in a warmer climate.

Soft flour starch for all cooking purposes: cornbread, Johnny cakes, pozole, hominy, fritters, grits, soups, stews. Famous for flavor and a tortilla contest winner.

Endures cold soil in spring. Endures heat and drought in summer. The plants have a few suckers. These native plants do not accommodate machine harvesting.
